Volume is the amount of space an object takes up. The volume of an irregular-shaped object can be measured using a graduated cylinder and water. The unit for volume is milliliters. The abbreviation for milliliters is mL. When the rock is dropped into the water, the water level rises by the exact volume of the rock. Using a graduated cylinder to measure the volume of an irregular-shaped object is called displacement. 1. Follow the directions on each slide. 2. Click the green check to save.
